The developers of Forza Horizon 5 have recently expressed their frustration with The Game Awards for not nominating their popular open-world racing game in the Best Ongoing Game category. The highly anticipated event, set for December 12, has sparked disappointment among fans, as Forza Horizon 5 failed to secure a nomination in any category.

Since its release in 2021, Forza Horizon 5 has been hailed as one of the best open-world racing games of all time, receiving critical and player acclaim. Over the years, developer Playground Games has continued to support the title with two paid expansions—Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure—along with regular updates that add new cars, challenges, and other content.

However, the game's absence from the Best Ongoing Game nominations has drawn attention. The category includes Destiny 2, Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, and Helldivers 2, but Forza Horizon 5 was overlooked. In response, the official Forza Horizon 5 social media account took a jab at The Game Awards, posting, “Forza fans know the real best ongoing game this year” alongside a photo highlighting some of the game's recent updates. These updates have kept the game fresh and engaging, arguably more so than any other entry in the series.

While games like Fortnite and Helldivers 2 received significant support this year, and Diablo 4 launched a major expansion, Forza Horizon 5 certainly didn’t lack in quality content throughout 2024. One notable update was the September introduction of the new "Hide and Seek" mode, a free addition where one Hider faces off against five Seekers in an exciting new challenge.

Additionally, Forza Horizon 5’s "Back to the 90s" update from last month brought four new classic cars and a 90s-themed Festival Playlist, filled with races, challenges, and new cosmetics. The return of the Horizon Backstage, which unlocks reward cars from previous Festival Playlists, further fueled excitement. With such ongoing content, Forza Horizon 5 continues to engage its dedicated community while players eagerly await news of a potential sequel.
